JavaScript Web Creators
Bring your web pages to life with JavaScript — buttons, quizzes, animation and games.
For students who know some HTML and CSS. Learn real JavaScript step by step: variables, the DOM, events, logic, functions, arrays and loops — then use them to build a clicker game, a to-do list, a quiz app, animations and a browser game.

About this course
JavaScript Web Creators turns students from page designers into page programmers. Working in a Web project in My Projects (HTML, CSS and JavaScript tabs with a live preview and a console), students learn to store information in variables, find and change elements on the page, respond to clicks and typing, make decisions with if and else, organise code into functions and work with lists of data using arrays and loops. Each module ends with something interactive: a dark-mode switch, a greeting machine, a random picker, a clicker game, a to-do list and a quiz app. The final module covers animation with requestAnimationFrame, drawing on a canvas, keyboard controls and collision detection, leading to a browser game and a final project of the student's own design. Throughout, students practise good habits: meaningful names, small testable steps, reading error messages in the console and using textContent to keep pages safe.
What your child will learn
- Use variables, numbers, strings and template literals, and debug with console.log
- Find elements with querySelector and change them safely with textContent and classList
- Respond to clicks, typing and key presses with event listeners
- Make decisions with if, else if and else, and organise code into functions
- Store and loop through data with arrays and objects, and use Math.random
- Build interactive apps such as a clicker game, a to-do list and a quiz
- Animate elements and draw on a canvas with requestAnimationFrame
- Plan, build, test and present an original browser game or app
Course structure
- 1
JavaScript basics
Meet the console, store information in variables, work with numbers and strings, build messages with template literals and learn to debug.
2 lessons
- 2
The DOM and events
Find and change elements on the page, respond to clicks, switch styles with classList and read what the user types.
3 lessons
- 3
Logic and data
Make decisions with if and else, organise code into functions, store lists in arrays, repeat with loops and add surprise with Math.random.
3 lessons
- 4
Interactive projects
Combine everything so far into real apps: a clicker game with upgrades, a to-do list kept in an array and a quiz app built from question objects.
3 lessons
- 5
Animation and games
Animate elements with timers and requestAnimationFrame, draw on a canvas, control characters with the keyboard, detect collisions, and build a browser game and a final project.
4 lessons
Example projects
Clicker game
Click to earn points, buy an upgrade that boosts each click, and watch the score grow.
Quiz app
A multiple-choice quiz built from an array of question objects, with feedback and a final score.
Star collector
A canvas game where you steer with the arrow keys to collect stars before the timer runs out.
