Draft — this page is awaiting legal review

This text is a working draft and has not yet been reviewed. It should not be relied on as a final statement.

Privacy policy

Draft for review. This starter text describes how the Coding Champions website and learning platform are designed to handle information. It has not been reviewed by a legal professional and must be checked and completed before it is relied upon.

Who we are

Coding Champions provides live, one-to-one online coding lessons for children. Contact details are listed on our contact page.

Information we collect

When a parent or guardian requests a free session, we ask for: your name, email address, an optional phone number, your child's first name or nickname, their coding interests and experience, your preferred availability and timezone, and any message you choose to include.

For registered students, we hold: a display name and username, an optional email address, parent/guardian contact details, the courses a student is assigned, their progress, the work and projects they create and submit, practice attempts, session attendance, feedback from their instructor, achievements and certificates.

We try to collect only what we need to teach and support each student.

How we use information

  • To respond to free-session requests and arrange lessons.
  • To provide the learning platform: lessons, practice, projects, feedback, sessions and certificates.
  • To keep accounts secure (for example, sign-in records and security logs).

Student work and public display

Student projects are private by default. We only display a student's work publicly when we have recorded permission from their parent or guardian, and we keep students' identities private unless that permission specifically covers showing a first name.

Certificates

Certificates include a verification code. Anyone with the code can confirm that the certificate is genuine and see the name printed on it, the course and the issue date. Certificates cannot be browsed or searched.

Sharing

[To be completed: list any service providers used, for example hosting, email delivery and video meeting tools.]

How long we keep information

[To be completed: retention periods for inquiries, student accounts and student work.]

Your choices

Parents and guardians can ask to see, correct, export or delete their child's information. [To be completed: how to make a request and response times.]

Changes

We will update this page if our practices change.
